© motioncontrolrunningshoes.org – Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS is designed for the excessive overpronator who wants superior motion control, a smooth, cushioned ride, and a comfortable secure fit. new Balance 1012 is a durable motion control running shoe, which is built for the brutal overpronator and provides brilliant stability and motion control. Learn where they’re similar and how they differ.
In two previous articles I wrote about the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS and the New Balance 1012 motion control running shoes.
The Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS and the New Balance 1012 are said to be comparable running shoes, so theoretically speaking they should stack up well against each other.
These two motion control running shoes are made by two uncommon running shoe manufacturers, so will naturally differ. Let’s compare them and take a look at where these running shoes are similar and how they differ.
Looking at the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS and the new Balance 1012 side-by-by gives a excellent comparison of the two types of motion control running shoes.
Figure 1. Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS vs. new Balance 1012 motion control running shoes
In the image above, Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS is shown on the left and new Balance 1012 is shown on the right.
Both the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS and the new Balance 1012 have a medial post in the midsole that is typical of all motion control running shoes and designed to keep your feet in a neutral plane during the gait cycle.
But the difference between the two sneakers is that this medial post runs all the way from the heel to the forefoot in the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS, while this is not the case for the new Balance 1012. Therefore, the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS might give you a smoother transition from heel-strike to toe-off.
The inward rolling of the feet is further supported by the place of the durable rubber on the outsoles of both running shoes. however, the locations of this rubber seem to be each other opposites on the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS and the new Balance 1012, with Saucony putting it more on the insides of the feet and new Balance more on the outsides.
So if you tend to run and land more on the outsides of your feet, the new Balance 1012 might be better apposite if you’re looking for durability.
The heel area of both trainers have a similar shape and organize, although the crash pads are more segmented on the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS meaning that it’ll affect your ride less than the new Balance 1012, so again adding to that smoother transition and ride.
Both the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS and the new Balance 1012 are expected to provide a similar amount of flexibility in the forefoot area. and because the contour of both motion control running shoes follows the natural shape of your feet, they’re both suitable as running shoes, and not walking or gym shoes.
Looking at the uppers, it is clearly noticeable that the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS hugs the midfoot well. and while not immediately noticeable, the new Balance 1012 has what’s called a LockDown Liner, which is integrated into the lacing system and which provides a custom fit without smothering your foot.
One difference to note in the uppers of the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS versus that of the new Balance 1012 is that the new Balance 1012 also "locks" your foot from your heel to your forefoot, giving a more secure fit. this element is gone in the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS.
Where the women’s running shoes are concerned, the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS weighs approximately 332 grams (11.7 oz), while the new Balance WR1012 weighs 323 grams (11.4 oz), which is 9 grams (0.3 oz) lighter. So if you’re looking for a light motion control running shoe and are trying to choose between the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS or the new Balance 1012, the new Balance 1012 will tip the scale in its favor.
If you’re looking for a flexible motion control running shoe that provides excellent support in addendum to a smooth and comfortable ride, the Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS might be the running shoe for you.
If on the other hand, you’re looking for a somewhat lighter motion control running shoe that provides a secure fit, then the New Balance 1012 might provide what you need.
The Saucony ProGrid Stabil CS comes at a suggested motion control running shoe price tag of US $115, while the new Balance 1012 is nearly $15 more expensive at US $129.99.
